Scooter Jr.

As many know, my childhood nickname was "scooter." Still to this day, my mom calls me "scooter" or "scooterpie." Scooter became my nickname because well, I scooted. I scooted all around the crib, from one end to the other, from corner to corner. When Jameson began scooting around his crib, I chuckled (silently, so as not to wake him). I set Jameson down in the middle of the crib, and by the time I check on him he has moved up to the top of the crib, or the corner. When he was waking up in the middle of the night his head would be jammed up against the top of the crib. I thought to myself that, perhaps this is what is waking him up, because he wasn't nursing for very long, just long enough to fall asleep again. Last week I began scooting him back to the middle of the crib before I headed to bed. It worked! four days in a row he slept from 8:00pm-7:15am. We spent Memorial Day with Scott and Erika (Bro and Sis-in-law), Elia and Eden in the mountains, and because Jameson slept in bed with us he was up a couple times during the night, but easily went back to bed. I was a little worried that we would have a tougher night last night, but he slept through, and just woke up a little earlier than usual. Perhaps we have turned a corner, I am still holding my breath and sleeping pretty lightly, but at the same time, I can't believe how easy Jameson has been since he was born. He is happy, content and rarely cries. If he is fussy, I know its my fault, for staying out too long, overstimulating him or keeping him awake for too long. From the time he wakes up he sleeps every two hours. Sometimes those naps are 45min. but most of the time the naps are around two hours+. I don't know what I did while pregnant to get such an easygoing, happy baby, but I want to try and do it again next time.

We had a great time up the mountain with Scott and Erika. We had a beautifully grilled steak dinner with twice baked potatoes, and asparagus. With Erika's help I made lava cakes and we got to eat some yummy chocolate dessert. While I was preparing the dessert, Kevin fed Jameson a bottle for the very first time! I realize that I am a baby-hog, and I am lucky that I get to feed him all the time, but I was so happy that Kevin finally got a chance to give him a bottle. It was too cute, and of course, I had to get a picture! I hope everyone had a great memorial day weekend! Summer is almost here!!

Look at that concentration!

Tarzan Baby

Quite possibly the funniest thing I have seen (heard, really) Jameson do is his Tarzan sqeal. He gets really excited, when he is on the floor under his gym-mini. I mostly hear these squeals of delight as I am making my morning latte. He is so happy in the morning that it makes me all kinds of happy. I have been trying to get it on camera for a few days now, but he gets camera shy, and just smiles at me. He is very sensitive too, I was making some funny faces at him and he screwed up his face in the saddest little look ever and started bawling. Not one of my proudest mommy moments, scaring the snot out of him. Does this happen to everyone, or just me? Apparently, he doesn't find me terribly amusing.

He has discovered himself in the mirror, and he gets one look at himself and starts laughing and smiling, even when he is in the middle of crying. Although, if he is crying, he doesn't really know whether to laugh or cry, so he does both until he makes a decision. It seems like everyday he finds something new and exciting. When he went barefoot the other day he found his feet incredibly interesting, and now he has been pulling them up to inspect every time I change his diaper.

One thing I can say for Jameson, he is never alone, especially if he is on the floor. One of the dogs is always next to him, protecting him, making sure he is happy, and letting me know if he is not. Lulu even tries to make him happy by kissing his face, although we have tried to nip that in the bud, and unless she knows I am not looking, she no longer kisses his face. The funniest thing that they do is check on him in his bedroom when he is sleeping. As he begins to stir and I can hear him on the baby monitor one of the dogs will run upstairs to his room, then come back down and make sure I know he is awake. For the most part they have realized that the baby monitor is Jameson, which surprised me, but they have connected that when he is crying (on the monitor) then he is crying up in his room.

Perfecting his glare, I think he got that look from me.

Mother's Day Pictures

On Mother's day we went to a park because it was an absolutely gorgeous day. We took some pictures, unfortunately the camera or the film, or both was old and only a couple of them turned out well. We are in the market for a new digital SLR camera. I have been wanting one for years, but no one seems to take me seriously. So, if anyone has one that they love, let me know. :) Anyway, here are some of my favorite pics...I just wished they turned out better.

Early morning wake-up call

This morning I was awake at 5:30 with my little monkey. 5:27 to be exact. This is not the normal time for him to wake up, and I was not very excited to be watching the sunrise. Jameson, on the other hand was thrilled to be awake, and he was laughing hysterically at me all morning. He finally went back down around 7:00 and woke back up at 8:00, just happy to be awake. At the moment he is singing to himself in bed, but he hasn't been napping for long, so I am hoping he sings himself to sleep. I did get some very cute pictures of my happy little monkey.

He is so cute and its so fun to play with him and watch him grow. I cannot believe how much he has changed in the last two and half months.

Mother's day was a really nice day. Kevin brought me breakfast in bed and then because the day was so beautiful we went walking in the park downtown around a lake. We got some pictures (with an old fashioned camera, so we have to wait for the film to be developed) so hopefully some turned out well.

Apparently my little one isn't "singing" himself to sleep, so that concludes the blog this morning.

Well-baby-check update

Jameson had his 2-month appointment yesterday and I am pleased to say that he is doing so well. Hitting all the milestones and even ahead on some others, like bearing his weight and he is very strong. He was flirting with the nurse practitioner until she started poking and prodding him, then he didn't like her too much. We didn't do vaccines yet, I am waiting until his immune system is more mature, and he can handle the massive amounts of toxic chemicals. The figures for Autism are pretty scary, (1 in 150) and if you take the females out of the equation those figures rise to 1 in 73 boys. Those figures don't include other neurological diseases and learning disabilities either. As a mom I am going to do everything in my power to make sure that my little boy stays safe. I am not against vaccines, I realize that the reason those awful childhood diseases are no longer around are because of the shots, however, I want to be well informed beforehand. When we were kids we got three-five vaccines, these days kids get SIXTEEN! A baby getting one vaccine in a day is the equivalent of an adult getting forty, so I definitely want to separate them out. Sorry about the rant, its just really scary to me.

Jameson was 25 1/4 inches long and 14.6 lbs. He was in the 97% for height and 96% for weight. Because of how long he is, he is now in 6-month sleepers. All of his 3-month sleepers are too short and his legs scrunch up or he is wearing "highwaters." He has been sleeping through the night, going down at 8:00 and sleeping until 5:30 or 6:00. I bring him into bed to nurse him and then am usually too lazy to take him back to bed so he sleeps in my arms until 8:00.

My Little Sleepyhead

Last night Jameson slept from 7:45 until 6:15 this morning, and instead of being thrilled I was beyond stressed! At 4am when I realized he hadn't woken up yet, I was unable to go back to sleep. Finally, at 4:30 I went into his room to make sure he was still breathing and that the baby monitor hadn't broken or something to that effect. He was still breathing (phew!) and sleeping very peacefully. Although, I am not sure how he was sleeping through the crazy thunderstorm we had, maybe it was reminiscent of Oregon with the rain pattering on the roof. I figured he would wake up when he was hungry/wet. Sure enough he woke up at 6:15 happy and talking to me. Maybe this is the beginning of him sleeping through the night. We will keep our fingers crossed!

The other night, Jameson fell asleep in Kevin's arms for the first time. Jameo had been fussing and really fighting sleep as I was walking around trying to get him to close his eyes. Kevin asked to hold him and see what he could do. Within minutes Jameson's eyes were heavy and he was looking up at his dad with the sweetest sleepiest look on his face. He was really fighting closing his eyes, so I taught Kevin how to stroke his forehead and nose with his index finger and sure enough his eyelids finally drooped closed. Kevin looked up at me and said, "I think I just became a daddy." That made me get all teary-eyed, and of course I had to take a picture to commemorate the special moment.

2 months-old

Jameson is two months-old today, and honestly, I cannot believe its already been two months since he was born, but at the same time it feels like forever. We are so lucky to have such an amazing little baby. He is "talking" up a storm and I never get sick of listening to him, mostly because he ends up cracking himself up. He loves singing too, although I hope he doesn't listen to me too closely because I am a horrid singer; he, however, doesn't seem to realize that. Here is a video of him talking to me. He has to concentrate really hard sometimes to get the sound out, and it makes me chuckle.

Every morning when Kevin (AKA Daddy) gets out of bed everyone else hops in except for Jameson who is carried in by me, and this is what it looks like. Lulu IS in bed, she just likes to lay at the end of the bed. Jameson is beginning to like the dogs, and the dogs really love him too. It makes me laugh when they kiss him every morning.

Today we went to visit Kevin's grandpa. Jameson is so lucky because he has three great-grandparents. Jameson wasn't on his best behavior, unfortunately, because he only napped in the car for a little while, but we did manage to get a really good picture with grandpa. Jameo's hair just keeps getting longer and longer and it looks really funny in this picture, but thats pretty much what it looks like on a daily basis, hence the reason everyone makes comments to me.

The rest of the weekend, we are just cleaning out all the extra stuff we have around our house trying to get more organized, should be a fun day. Hopefully, Jameson will nap well tomorrow so I can be productive.
